Up on its hind legs on top of a tree stump, this cheerful squirrel stretches one paw toward a butterfly fluttering just overhead. It has big sparkling eyes, a happy open-mouthed smile, tufted ears and a large curly tail sweeping up behind its back. The other paw rests close to its chest. Ring lines show on top of the stump, with a little oval knot on the bark, and a daisy-style flower with rounded petals stands on each side among tufts of grass at the bottom. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the squirrel's bushy tail, body, raised arm, and ears with warm orange, leaving the thin fur highlight on the tail white.
- 2Color the squirrel's belly patch cream and the inside of the ear pale rose, keeping the eye shine and little foot highlights white.
- 3Color the tree stump in medium brown, then add caramel tan on the knot and pale tan on the top ring.
- 4Fill the flower petals with soft pink and the flower centers with lemon yellow, then color the grass leaves leaf green.
- 5Color the butterfly's wings lemon yellow with soft pink spots, and its head and body dark brown.
- 6Optional: add a little darker brown along the stump edges and the lower part of the tail for depth.
