Two smiling dolphins leap out of the water side by side, facing one another with big eyes and open happy mouths. On the left, the taller one arches its body and tail over a curling splash. The smaller one on the right bounces up with its flippers held out. Swirly waves and plenty of water droplets below leave lots of little spaces for crayons. Overhead, a round sun with triangle rays shines next to three gliding seagulls. Bold lines and fairly large shapes make this free printable a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Soft blues and grays work for the dolphins, with a yellow sun and some teal in the waves for a splashy look. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill both dolphins' bodies, fins and tails with sky blue, leaving their bellies for later.
- 2Color the bellies of both dolphins with pale blue for a soft, light look.
- 3Use ocean blue for the darkest bottom wave and the far left wave, then fill the middle wave band and water splashes with light aqua.
- 4Color the sun disk and its rays with golden yellow, and tint the open mouths of both dolphins with coral pink.
- 5Leave the seagulls, the dolphins' eyes, the sun outline and the foam highlights white.
- 6Optional: Add a few light strokes of darker blue along the edges of the dolphins and waves to give them more depth.
