Howling Wolf Pup on a Rock Under the Crescent Moon

This fluffy wolf pup is perched on a rounded rock with its head tipped back and its mouth open, howling at a big crescent moon. The tail curls up beside it. Fur on the cheeks, chest and ears is drawn in soft, jagged tufts that are fun to color. Five stars of different sizes dot the night sky, and small bushes and a few blades of grass poke out around the rock at the bottom. Bold lines and large shapes make this free printable a good pick for preschoolers and early elementary kids with crayons or markers. Gray and soft brown would suit the pup, with a pale yellow moon and deep blue or purple around the edges of the sky so the stars pop. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the wolf's head, body, legs and paws with medium gray, working around the eye so it stays bright.
- 2Color the inside of the ear soft pink.
- 3Shade the bushy tail with light gray, leaving the tip a little brighter.
- 4Color the bushes and the grass on both sides of the rock with grass green, and the grass at the right edge with forest green.
- 5Color all the stars golden yellow, and leave the crescent moon, the sky and the eye's white shine uncolored.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker gray along the wolf's belly and under the paws to make the body look rounder.
