Young Elf Archer Taking Aim at a Tree Target
Coloring guide
With her bowstring pulled back, a young elf girl with pointed ears is about to shoot an arrow at a round target hanging from a big tree trunk. She wears a pointed hood, a belt, a sash across her chest, a wide-sleeved tunic and tall cuffed boots, and her long braid rests over one shoulder. A quiver of feathered arrows sits on the ground by the tree. Grass tufts, leafy bushes, more trees and a sun with rays fill the background. The target's rings are easy to see, which gives little ones good practice staying inside the lines. Green fits the hood and tunic, brown the boots and bow, and red and yellow the target. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big green areas: color the elf's hood, tunic and sleeves in forest green, and the bushes and leaves around the scene in leaf green.
- 2Fill the tree trunks, the boots and the bow with dark brown and copper brown, and color the quiver in dark brown with an amber gold band at the top.
- 3Color the skin of the face, hands and ears in peach skin, and the hair in copper brown, leaving the little eye whites and the highlights on the hair white.
- 4Add the legs in olive green and the sun and bullseye center in lemon yellow, then use cherry red and bright blue for the target rings.
- 5Leave the sky and open background white, and finish with the cuffs in lime green and the grass tufts in leaf green.
- 6Optional: Add a darker tone of forest green along the shadowed side of the tunic to make the elf look more three-dimensional.
