Coloring guide
A smiling boy in a safari pith helmet, buttoned shirt, cargo pants and hiking boots crouches down with a backpack on his shoulders. One hand reaches toward a seated leopard cub that has a big spotted coat, whiskers and a curved tail. They look at each other calmly in a jungle clearing. Large monstera leaves, hanging vines, grassy tufts and a few flowers in the corners surround them. Bold outlines and a mix of large and small areas suit kids who like detail but still want room to color. Warm golden-yellow fur with dark brown rosettes looks good on the leopard, and you can use several greens for the leaves and bright pink or purple for the flowers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big jungle greens: fill the leaves and bushes on the left, right and top with dark green and leaf green, then add lime green to the grass at the bottom and the center.
- 2Color the leopard with golden yellow over its body, head and legs, and use pale gold on the lighter areas. Fill the inside of the ears and the muzzle with cream, and add rose pink to the ears.
- 3Paint the boy's safari outfit in light tan for the shirt and pants, then use tan for the sleeves, the pocket and the shirt details.
- 4Fill the hat with tan for the crown and chocolate brown for the band, then color the hair, boots and backpack with chocolate brown, khaki and dark olive.
- 5Optional: Leave the flowers, the sky and the leopard's eye highlights white, and add a little extra darker green or brown to shadows for depth.
