Perched on a tree branch, a mother bird holds a wriggly worm in her beak, about to drop it to the hungry mouths below. Three fluffy chicks sit in a woven twig nest with their beaks wide open, all watching mom. The nest is tucked into the fork of a big tree trunk. Large veined leaves frame the top and bottom of the page, and a few small leaves poke out around the nest. Her wings have layered feathers and she has a long tail, so they're fun to color in sections. Soft blue for her body and wings, yellow for the chicks and pink for the worm work nicely. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the three baby birds with light blue, leaving the open beaks and mouths white.
- 2Fill the adult bird's body with sky blue, then add bright blue to its wing and tail.
- 3Color all the leaves in leaf green, keeping the tree trunk and background white.
- 4Fill the nest with warm brown, weaving the strands and leaving some lighter gaps for texture.
- 5Color the beaks in golden yellow and add the small branch details in warm brown and sage gray.
- 6Optional: add a little darker blue along the underside of the wing and tail for depth.
