Thirsty Fox at a Forest Stream

Coloring guide
At the edge of a woodland stream, a fox bends low with its pointed nose just touching the water, sending out small ripples. The big ears, the bushy tail with tufted tips and the wide dark eyes are all waiting for color. Smooth stepping stones and tall cattails on both sides surround it, and a blooming water lily rests on lily pads up front. Behind the fox, tree trunks, leafy bushes and a few evergreen trees fill the forest, with a flower at the left edge. Warm orange and rust suit the fur, white works for the chest and tail tip, and soft blues and greens will do for the water and lily pads. Print this free page whenever you need an afternoon activity. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the fox: fill its body, head and tail with bright orange, leaving the inner ears cream.
- 2Color the stream and water ripples with sky blue, and use ocean blue for the deeper water near the fox's nose.
- 3Fill the trees and bushes with grass green and leaf green, adding forest green for the darker pine trees.
- 4Paint the tree trunks chestnut brown and the cattails amber brown, then color the rocks light gray.
- 5Add the lily pads in moss green and leave the white lotus flower unpainted, with a cream center.
- 6Optional: Add a little sage gray shadow under the fox's paws and rocks for depth.
