Mama Fox and Her Three Kits

Coloring guide
In this sweet family scene, a smiling mother fox with big lashed eyes and tall fluffy ears curls around her three kits. One kit peeks over her shoulder with a happy open mouth. Another sits on the left and reaches up toward her chest. The third snuggles into her big bushy tail with eyes shut in a contented grin. Grass tufts dot the ground, a leafy bush with small sprouts grows behind them, and two kit tails with zigzag tips show at the sides. Fluffy fur, large shapes and clear outlines suit little hands, and older kids can add detail along the fur edges. Warm orange coats with white left for the tail tips and chest fur make a lovely contrast. It's a free printable for a quiet afternoon. Fans of Fox coloring pages often like Wolves and Lion as well.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- orange
- cream
- chestnut brown
- light orange
- leaf green
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big orange areas first: mama fox's head, body and big tail, plus the bodies of the three kits, leaving the eye whites white.
- 2Fill the kits' tails and the right kit's head and body with orange, keeping the shapes smooth and even.
- 3Use light orange on the sleeping kit's muzzle and face to make it stand out from the orange body.
- 4Color the big front paws at the bottom and the small paws of the kits with chestnut brown.
- 5Add cream to the tail tips, inner ears, chests, muzzles and the paws that are not brown, leaving the eye shines white.
- 6Finish with leaf green on the little acorn cap near the right kit. Optional: add light strokes of darker orange along the fur edges for depth.
