Leaping Fox with a Big Bushy Tail

Coloring guide
This happy young fox is bounding through the air, front paws stretched ahead and back legs kicked out behind. The big fluffy tail curves high over its body, and the jagged fur marks at the tip are fun to color. You'll see large pointed ears, wide sparkling eyes, an open smiling mouth and a fluffy chest ruff. Tall blades of grass fill the bottom of the page, with a couple of wheat-like seed heads poking up on each side, and three simple puffy clouds float at the top right. Clean outlines and big shapes work for young kids, and older ones can add their own detail. Orange for the fox with white on the chest, tail tip and paws, plus green grass, looks bright. It's a free printable for a quiet afternoon. More like this: explore the Fox, Wolves and Lion coloring page collections.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big fox shapes: color the body, head, tail, legs, chest, and ear tips in warm orange, leaving the eye whites and teeth white.
- 2Fill the tail tip, the inside of the left ear, and the cheek area with cream for a soft, light contrast.
- 3Add peach to the inner part of the right ear and keep the top-right cloud white.
- 4Color the two smaller clouds in sky blue, and leave the big cloud at the top right white.
- 5Work on the grass: use lime green and bright green for most blades, forest green for a few darker ones, and sage green for a couple of accents, mixing the greens so the grass looks lively.
- 6Optional: add a little darker orange along the fox's underside and tail edges to give the fur some depth.
