Mama Fox and Her Three Kits in the Meadow
Coloring guide
In the middle of the scene sits a smiling mother fox, tall and proud, with three fluffy kits snuggled around her. The kit on the left looks up at her, the one on the right has happily closed eyes, and the smallest in front rests its paws on its big bushy tail. Daisies and other blooms fill the foreground, with tall grass and a few rocks behind them. Farther back you'll see leafy trees, pine trees and distant mountains. The fur is drawn with lots of small tufts, so it's best for kids who like detail and have a steady hand. Orange and rusty red for the foxes, cream on chests and tail tips, and bright yellow, pink and purple flowers would be pretty. Print this sheet at home for a quick coloring break anytime. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the whole fox family in orange: mama fox's head and body, all three kits, and their big bushy tails.
- 2Fill the cream parts with cream: mama fox's chest, the inner parts of all the ears, and the front kit's paws, leaving the eye whites and tiny highlights white.
- 3Add burnt orange to the shaded areas under the fur, such as the mama fox's side, the right kit's tail, and the edges of the ears, then use peach for the fur shadow under the front kit.
- 4Color the tree trunks brown, the evergreen trees deep green, the mountains sky blue, and the bushes and grass light green and sage green.
- 5Fill the leaves, grass, and flower stems with grass green, leave most of the flower petals white, and color the single purple flower at the bottom left lilac purple.
- 6Optional: Add a little amber yellow to the kit fur highlights and darken the bushes slightly for more depth. Keep the sky and most flower petals white.
