Two coconut palms, one tall and one shorter, stand side by side on a little round island. Each has big jagged-edged leaves and a bunch of round coconuts tucked under the fronds, and the trunks have simple curved bands that are easy to color. Leafy bushes sit on both sides of the sandy mound, which is dotted with small oval pebbles. In front, two rows of wavy lines show the water, and a round sun with short rays floats in the top corner. Bold outlines and open spaces make it friendly for beginners and younger kids. Brown trunks, bright green leaves and a sunny yellow sun do the job nicely. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the sun's round center with golden yellow and leave the rays white.
- 2Fill the island with pale sand yellow, leaving the small round spots on the sand white.
- 3Color all the palm leaves and both bushes with fresh green.
- 4Fill the tree trunks with caramel brown, leaving the thin ring lines white.
- 5Color the coconuts dark brown, leaving a tiny white shine dot on each one.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading at the bottom edges of the leaves and trunks, and leave the background and waves white.
