Two Fox Cubs Roughhousing in a Meadow

Coloring guide
One fox cub is on its back in the grass, paws up and mouth open in a big grin. A second cub leans over it with a front paw pressed on its tummy, and they're clearly in the middle of a rough-and-tumble game. The standing cub has a huge, fluffy tail with zigzag fur tips curving up behind it, and the cub on the ground has its own bushy tail curled around at the bottom right. A cut log lies on its side behind them, and tufts of grass and little five-petal flowers are scattered across the meadow. All the jagged fur edges give kids a chance to practice careful pencil or crayon strokes. You could color the coats orange, leave the tail tips, chests and cheeks white, and give the flowers yellow centers. Print this free page for an easy afternoon activity. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big fox bodies, heads, and tails in bright orange, leaving the eye whites untouched.
- 2Fill the fallen log and the stick under the bottom fox in warm brown and dark brown, then add golden yellow to the round log ends.
- 3Color the paws and lighter parts of the bottom fox in light orange to add some variety.
- 4Use cream for the inner ears and the muzzle areas, and color the grass and little green patches in grass green.
- 5Add coral pink to the open mouths and leave the eye whites and small shine spots white.
- 6Optional: Add slightly darker orange lines along the fur edges and under the bellies to give the foxes some depth.
